Martin Uhlarik is Vice President of Design for Tata Motors as well as Executive Director of the Tata Motors Design Tech Centre in the UK. He is responsible for design for the EV, Passenger car and Commercial vehicle business units. The design organization at Tata Motors consists of 3 design studios located in Pune, Turin and the UK.
Having worked for several car manufacturers he has been with Tata Motors since 2016, ascending to the Global Design role in 2021. Notable products developed under him are the 2020 Tata Punch, 2023 Nexon, 2023 Harrier, 2023 Safari, 2024 Punch.ev and the forthcoming 2024 Curvv and 2025 Sierra. Over the years several concepts have been developed; 2016 eVision sedan, 2017 45x concept, 2018 H2X, 2020 Sierra concept and the award winning 2022 Tata Avinya concept which will debut in 2026. The majority of these visions have translated into production programs.
With that Martin was made Director of the Design Tech Centre based at the NAIC building in Warwick University. It comprises of 2 design studios as well as over 120 engineers who are working collaboratively with design to develop world class products both for India as well as globally.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He graduated in Industrial Design at the Ontario College of Design in Toronto in 1993 and subsequently left for Switzerland to attend the ArtCenter College of Design in Transportation Design graduating in 1994.
